Shiba Inu aims to launch SHIB domains for email and websites
Sharing is Caring

The Shiba Inu team has formed a partnership with the domain firm D3. The involved parties will work together to assist Shiba Inu in establishing the inaugural SHIB domains for websites and email.

The meme coin aims to apply for a TLD (top-level domain) for .shib with ICANN. The nonprofit organization is known for maintaining numerous facets of the internet.

Unstoppable Domains and Ethereum Name Service already provide services to claim domain names ending in .crypto or .eth. However, these domains can only be directed to crypto wallets and not websites accessible via browsers.

Till now, no crypto-themed domain name connects to the DNS (Domain Name System). The Shiba Inu team is trying to change it by becoming the first-ever crypto domain to enter the mainstream internet.

For this reason, it has formed a partnership with the renowned infrastructure provider D3 Global. The parties will collaborate in an effort to expedite Shiba Inu’s acquisition of a TLD. The situation was addressed by the main developer at Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama.

A partnership with D3, according to Shytoshi, enables Shiba Inu to expand beyond its ecosystem. Establishing direct access to and from the SHIB ecosystem, will expose Shiba Inu to five billion internet users.

Adding a real domain to SHIB is huge, as it will expand the team’s vision for virtual identities. It will also drive Shiba Inu’s long-term revenue generation pipelines in the ecosystem, added the lead developer.

Knowing whether this application is a success will take time. ICANN was previously seen offering such services to applications way back in 2012. This application cycle brought domains like .app and .xyz to the market.

The next TLD cycle is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2026. It is evident that the collaboration between Shiba Inu and D3 will also be considering the cycle.
